Gold Rebound Strategy: How to Trade Today's $4,090 Drop
Gold fell $47.40 to $4,090.40 today. Learn a step-by-step strategy for beginners to trade price pullbacks with clear entry and exit levels.
Gold took a sharp dip today. The spot price sits at $4,090.40, down by $47.40 from yesterday. You might be checking your charts from Dubai, Karachi, or Mumbai, seeing red numbers everywhere. Headlines about fresh tariffs from Washington stirred up the market today.
When gold drops fast, new traders often panic. Some jump into a sell trade right at the bottom. Others try to buy, hoping for an instant recovery. Both choices usually lose money.
Today I want to teach you a straightforward approach called the resistance rejection strategy. It helps you enter trades calmly after a big move has already happened.
First, let us clear up three simple terms you need today.
Support (a price floor where gold stops falling because buyers step in).
Resistance (a price ceiling where gold stops rising because sellers take over).
Breakout (when price pushes cleanly through a floor or ceiling level).
Here is how you can use this strategy step by step.
Step 1: Map your key levels
After a big drop, gold almost never falls in a straight line. It stops, rests, and pulls back slightly upward.
Today, gold hit support around $4,081.00 before settling around $4,090.40. If price drops further below $4,070.00, it could open the path toward lower zones like $3,978.00.
However, we do not want to sell at the very bottom. Instead, we wait for a temporary rally back up toward $4,122.00. That level was previous support, which now acts as a ceiling.
Step 2: Wait for price confirmation
Patience is your best tool in trading. Do not place an order the second price touches $4,122.00.
Switch to a 15-minute price chart. Watch how price candles close near that ceiling. Are the candles growing smaller? Do you see long upper tails on the candles?
These signs show that buying momentum is fading. Sellers are stepping back into the market.
Step 3: Set up your trade parameters
Once you see buying power weaken near $4,122.00, you open a short trade. Short trading simply means you aim to profit as the price declines.
Place your stop-loss order slightly above $4,169.00 or $4,179.00. That way, if gold suddenly surges higher, your trade automatically closes with a tiny, predictable loss.
Set your primary target back down at $4,081.00. If the market breaks below that zone, your secondary target sits near $3,978.00.
Step 4: Protect your account capital
Risk management is what keeps you trading next week and next year. Never risk more than one or two percent of your total balance on one trade.
If your trading account has one thousand dollars, your risk on this trade should not exceed ten to twenty dollars. Calculate your lot size before you press any order button.
If you are new to position sizing, start with the smallest trade size available, often called a micro lot (0.01 lots). On XAUUSD, a micro lot keeps your price movements manageable while you learn how the setup behaves in real time.
Traders in Pakistan and India know how quickly local gold rates change in PKR or INR when international spot gold drops $47.40. But local retail prices include import duties and premiums. On trading platforms, you are trading pure spot price movements.
I think this strategy gives you a clear structure for days like today. You wait for the market to come to you instead of chasing price candles.
