Gold Drops to $4139 — XAUUSD SELL Signal 03 Oct 2026
Gold dropped $40 today to $4139.24. After a tough loss yesterday, here is our fresh SELL setup for October 3.
Hey there. It has been a wild 24 hours for gold. If you have been tracking the charts today, you saw the price take a steep $40.00 dive, landing right around $4139.24. This kind of sudden drop can be scary, especially if you are holding physical gold or trading local jewellery rates in Lahore or Dubai.
But in the trading markets, big moves down often create fresh opportunities. Today, I am seeing a clear trend forming. Before we jump into the new plan, we need to talk about what happened yesterday because honesty is everything here.
How Yesterday's Signal Went
Yesterday, we took a SELL trade from $4190.00. Unfortunately, the market did not play nice. Gold spiked sharply upward all the way to $4259.00 before reversing. This sudden spike triggered our stop loss at $4210.00.
Even though the price eventually fell back down and hit our first target of $4160.00, our trade was already closed. That means we took a hard loss of $20.00 per ounce.
Losing hurts, but it is part of the game. We do not hide our bad days. We learn from them, keep our risk small, and focus on the next setup.
Today's Trade Setup
Here is what I am looking at for today's trade:
Why This Setup
The big $40.00 drop today tells us that sellers are firmly in control. In trading, we call this strong bearish momentum (when sellers push prices down rapidly). When momentum is this strong, it is usually safer to trade in the direction of the fall.
I am waiting for a small pullback up to $4145.00 to enter. This area acts as a minor resistance (a price ceiling where sellers usually step in to push prices down again). If gold climbs back to this level, we expect sellers to defend it and drive the price back toward $4110.00.
What Could Go Wrong
No trade is a sure thing. If gold gets a sudden boost of buying power and breaks above $4160.00, this setup is dead.
A break above $4160.00 would mean buyers are taking back control. If that happens, our stop loss will save us from a bigger loss. Never trade without a stop loss.
Bottom Line
We are selling on a temporary bounce up to $4145.00. If you are a beginner, keep your trade size very small today to rebuild confidence after yesterday's loss. If you feel uneasy, it is perfectly fine to sit this one out and watch.
